Extra Virgin Olive Oils
All of our extra virgin oils are new harvest (2023). They are also early harvest except for Myths of Ancient Olympia PGI Mild. Early harvested oils have some bitterness in them (some more and some less) as olives are picked unripe, but they also have the most of valuable nutrients, like polyphenols and oleocanthal, for example.
Both oils from the ultra-premium Laurel & Flame collection are USDA-organic.
Myths of Ancient Olympia (formerly Olympian Myth) Olympia PGI Mild (a new addition to this collection at our store) has PGI certification, a "light" organic certification that doesn't equal "certified organic" but implies that the producer doesn't spray pesticides etc. This oil is, in fact, recommended for children being a healthy and nutritional product with a very soft taste. It is also made of local Olympian black olive varieties (Koroneiki & Kolireiki). Great for those who don't appreciate the bitterness of a "no-nonsense" olive oil. But remember the old European saying: “One cough is a good olive oil, two coughs is a great one”, so some bitterness is not only normal, but is a quality mark of a high-end olive oil.
